MICHAEL HORNBUCKLE BAND WINS MILE HIGH BLUES SOCIETY IBC CHALLENGE FINALS – NOW, ON TO MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE IN JANUARY
The Michael Hornbuckle Band won the recently-completed 2016 Mile High Blues Society International Blues Challenge (IBC) Finals, taking First Place in the “Bands” category over some very stiff competition. MHB now goes on to Memphis, TN to compete at the 2016 IBC’s this January.
Frontman/guitarist-vocalist-songwriter Michael Hornbuckle – a member of ‘Denver’s First Family of the Blues’ whose skillful guitar playing and soulful vocals earned him a coveted “Hot 100 Artist for 2015” selection by respected national magazine Music Connection – also recently earned a headlining slot at the 22nd Annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival on Saturday, September 19. Complete band itinerary below.
MICHAEL HORNBUCKLE INTERVIEWED RECENTLY BY LISTEN UP DENVER
Michael was recently interviewed by Listen Up Denver about his participation in the Road To Blues & Brews and much more, read the entire interview here:http://www.listenupdenver.com/38499/firefly-autism-road-to-blues-brews-artist-interview-michael-hornbuckle/. Among the interview’s revelations: Michael (in his own words) “is starting a non-profit to benefit recovering addicts and give them resources to get into treatment and sober houses. This is for guys who don’t have the resources. We’re starting this non-profit and going to be presenting festivals here (in the Denver area) soon. It’s not that corny recovery message, but the money is going to somewhere good. It doesn’t exclude anybody. We’re going to have everything from Hip-Hop to Blues to poetry to speakers. I’m really excited about that. It just became an idea about a month ago and everything’s just falling into place rapidly for us.”

Michael Hornbuckle: “Top 100 Artist for 2015” (MUSIC CONNECTION)
Featuring Michael Hornbuckle on lead vocals and guitar, they’re known as “Denver’s First Family of Blues” because of the musical success achieved by Hornbuckle brothers Michael and Brian, as well as their father, late Denver blues musician, Bobby Hornbuckle. Michael and Brian Hornbuckle collaborated on 2014 album Virtue & Vice, which recently won “Best Self-Produced CD” as voted on by the Mile High Blues Society in Denver. “Virtue & Vice is beautifully recorded and produced,” says Mile High Blues Society President, Rick Davis. “The songs are brilliant, sad, and uplifting. Blues ballads telling a story of failure, struggle, and redemption. The performances are first-rate”.
The Colorado media has taken notice of guitarist-vocalist Michael Hornbuckle and his tight-knit band of late. Here’s recent features in the Vail Daily ,Steamboat Today, Westword, and Arvada Press. This has also resulted in a long list of upcoming headlining shows, both throughout Colorado and outside the state (see Itinerary below for complete shows listing).
