A Benefit Concert to Raise Money for KK Martin’s Living Expenses after Cancer Surgery
Long Beach, CA: As a musician who dedicated his life to his art KK Martin believed it could never happen to him. But it did. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in July of 2015. It was back in April 2011 that Martin presented “Blues For the Rising Sun,” a Long Beach-based Blues Relief Concert whose proceeds aided the victims of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami. Although he would never ask for help for himself, Martin’s Friends are now giving to him as they donate their musical talents to present a star-studded concert for his benefit at The Gaslamp, 6251 Pacific Coast Highway, Long Beach, CA on November 8, 2015 from 4-11 PM. Phenomenal support for a great musician and a guy who would give you the shirt off his back. As a self employed musician he has no disability insurance. Obama Care is taking care of his medical expenses but he needs help with his household expenses. The Benefit at the Gaslamp on November 8th, 2015 can help with those expenses. Louisiana-born Martin has been a professional musician since the age of 10, when he took to the road to perform with his musician parents. KK Martin was a founding member, lead guitarist, singer and songwriter for 80′s-era band A La Carte. The group gained considerable renown as one of the most in-demand groups on the then-vibrant Sunset Strip music scene. Since 1990 he has been singing the Blues throughout Orange and L.A. County. Music legend KK Martin’s sole means of income is music. He needs help to keep his acoustic guitar on his knee to carry the torch of tradition and keep it alive.
